Picture this: each day becomes an adventure of self-discovery, where you're encouraged to explore and embrace new facets of yourself. Whether it's a morning meditation by the waterfront or an inspiring conversation under the stars, at The Barge, you'll find a community that supports you every step of the way.
Become the best version of yourself as you immerse yourself in our vibrant community. Learn skills that make you self-reliant, share stories that inspire you, and build friendships that last a lifetime.

You will receive instructions to ensure things run smoothly and so we can live together comfortably in a small space. Think not as a guest, but as someone who is considering how they can contribute to making this place better—being better organized, keeping it cleaner, which means you need to be proactive.
Don’t wait for instructions; if you see something that needs to be done, go for it. Nothing makes The Barge happier than when the crew gets involved without having to be asked. The more you give, the more you will receive.
THE SUCCESS OF THE BARGE RELIES ON TEAMWORK
CREW INFORMATION
"This experience is suited to those who are thinking outside of the box and carry a sense of awareness, have compassion, and empathy for others. Below is an overview of how the Barge operates and the things you need to know. Please read all of the contents to make your introduction to Water World and the Barge as easy and comfortable as possible.

YOUR AREA
Each crew member of the Barge will have their own area where they can sleep and leave their belongings. Everyone needs to make an effort to keep the place tidy, but you are free to decorate your area to make you feel at home. The kitchen and dining room are communal space to share with all members of the crew.

BATHROOM
The toilet doesn’t get pumped into the ocean, so alternatively the toilet compartment is taken to land and emptied. This usually happens once every few days.

CREW BOATS
To get on board you will travel on the Barge Force Taxi. Be aware that the Barge rests out in the bay and while it is rather easy to reach land. You will have the option and the freedom to explore the beautiful surroundings if you choose to learn how to use the guest dingy and where to leave it at the marina.

WORK TIME
Working time is usually between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm, depending on what we are busy with. Sometimes the days are longer or shorter, but we can be flexible if you have any preference on the start/end time.

GENERAL DANGERS
The Barge is a work-in-progress site, there are sharp and rusty items around so be careful and I recommend bringing proper shoes and comfortable clothes you can get dirty in.

KITCHEN
Two important rules for the kitchen: the dishes must be all cleaned before bedtime and shared recipes always taste better! Everyone on board will have to do their part to keep the kitchen clean and collaborate to make the cooking and cleaning time enjoyable for all.

POWER
The Barge runs on solar power through the panels installed on the rooftop. The power then gets stored into the batteries and distributed to all utilities. While on board I urge everyone to be aware of how precious this energy is and not to waste it unnecessarily.

LAUNDRY
There is a Laundry at the Brooklyn Marina. The cost is $5.00 per wash or dry. You can purchase the tokens from the General store at the Marina.

WAKE UP TIME
It is encouraged to wake up early to enjoy the beautiful mornings here, although you are welcome to wake up at the time of your choice as long as you have participated in the breakfast duties and ready to start work at 10.00 am.

DAYS OFF
We prioritize work-life balance with a flexible schedule of 5 work days and 2 days off per week, embracing spontaneity. A full day off during the week allows for enjoying natural surroundings, complemented by half-day excursion adventures

FOOD
The way we get food on the Barge is as unconventional as it is brilliant. The food you will eat on the barge will be collected from the items that supermarkets decide to get rid off. The food is selected so it is all fresh, in other words a waste to be thrown away. This way there is always abundance and variety of tasty and healthy foods. A food run happens in the early morning, before sunrise. Any crew member is welcome to join and see how it works!

WEATHER
Weather can be rather unpredictable on the boat, but be reassured that there are plenty of opportunities to carry on activities inside when the weather is gloomy and heaps of paths to explore when the sun is out.
